Blotter App Reviews

Relatively useless

Great idea and it looks OK, but would it be that difficult to change to a month view instead of 7 days? Or to change the hours shown (ie eliminate 2 am - 7 am) SHould be much more customizable to warrant the $10 price. Good idea, but they definitely didn’t take it as far as they could have. My guess is that the company has folded and gotten rid of most employees and they just don’t care about improving it. I would definitely not buy it again if I knew how little it did.

Eats memory like no tomrorow, wheres the vendor?

I constantly have to kill blotter after urnning for a few days, becuase it just east memory like crazy. major memory leak, and since 2014. looks like the vendor has abandoned the product.

Not worth the money

I can’t type directly on the calendar and can’t even use the shortcut. I used to have Desktop Calendar for window and I could type on it directly. But I couldn’t find any similar application for Mac. I want to return this application and get my money back. So disappointed.

Just what I’m looking for

I understand that a lot of people need different types of organizers/calendars. But Blotter is exactly what I need. It does not use another stand-alone calendar or reminder application. You continue to use MacOS Calendar. Which means that you don’t have to install another app and start migrate with another third party environment. This means you keep the disadvantages of Calendar app though. But for me, a standard user who needs to see his week all the time in front of him, Blotter is easy to use, effective app that helps me a lot.

Flexible, does what it says, and looks good doing it

This is the best replacement I have found for the old defunct iDeskCal (which now crashes all the time). This really is a good app, and very flexible. I have removed all the "other stuff” in the left sidebar, and just have the calendar showing. I like how the all-day events show at the top, and the time events below. It does a good job showing overlapping events. And . . . it looks really good. I have one requests to get it from 4 to 5 stars. I would like the user to be able to select the level of transparency ( for the fade AND for the default), all the way down to invisible (so if you wanted it would timed disappear). You see one of the cool features is the timed fade. Very nice. So give us default and fade transparency levels and I will go to 5 stars!

Clear and Efficient Calendar

This is exactly what I was looking for. The calendar is easy to use, visually pleasing, and its customization options are simple and effective.

Really limited but does what it says

I thought it would have features (necessary options) it doesn’t. It should have the options to only have the application on a locked screen. To have the calendar fade completely after a set period. To make it smaller and on and on,, and it would be really nice if it had a simple interface with the application, nada, you need to open either the Calendar or Reminders app to do anything. You can add a task but why can’t you mark it’s completed? If you look through the reviews, the lack of features for it’s cost is a major complaint. It just doesn’t have enough options to justify the money it cost. Should be less than $5.00 Still, it does what it says it does.

Great Assistant...

Very helpful in tracking my day at school and home. Rock solid and excellent features. Either some of the reviews below did not look at the preferences or they are for previous versions. You can resize it and customize what is shown and it will fade out at a user set time period. I have it on my library iMac running OS 10.8.5 (i3) and my home 2012 3.2ghz i5 iMac OS 10.9.5 both -running rock solid. Version shown is not keeping up with newer Mac OS which may be reason for poor reviews… Please specify computer and OS so others can benefit from your specific experience.

Sad App

As usual, most apps fall short, this one worse than most. It’s jut a calendar, you can’t edit events, you can’t complete to dos, you can’t access help, all you get a page that says “oops” I won’t pay the cc when it comes in.

10/10

wasting poetry on the importance of this app won’t hasten one’s download, nor allow its change on ones life

Good, Just needs a few improvements to be great!

This is a great app, but pretty expensive at $9 bucks. I really like the convienience of having a calendar on the desktop all the time so you know whats coming up. Setting events, making reminders, and seeing the current timeline is great! What I don’t like about this app, is that you are unable to Delete or Edit events, once you have made them. In order to do that, you need to go into I-cal. I also would like to see this app be able to open and view the details of the event once it is made. It’s kind of strange that you are unable to edit events once they are made. I thought the whole reason you would have a calendar on the desktop was so you don’t have to open I-cal to use the calendar... These are the main issues that I have with it. Otherwise it’s great.

I love this

Everytime I open my Mac, there is 10 days of my calendar. It is so handy and easy to change through the calendar. I highly recommend this to people with busy calendars who want easy and quick access. Love it!!!!

Can’t Figure It Out!

When I downloaded Blotter, I accidentally pushed a button which didn’t connect my iCal with the app. I went to preferences thinking I will be able to figure it out, but I have tried everything and still, my iCal won’t show up. I’ve even contacted WireLoad, the people who made this app, and they didn’t even contact me back. I paid $10 for nothing and I really really really want this app to work!

CPU hog

The latest update fixes the previous CPU hog bugs, giving Blotter its former ubiquitous-presence-which-stays-out-of-my-way glory. Clean, useful, does what it says. Allows selection of which calendars to display. Visually pleasing. Missing some bells and whistles, e.g. the ability to have a clock along with the date, but no big deal. Constant clock updates would probably make the CPU footprint larger...

Same issues as everybidy else

Main issue is you cannot make it go away. I wanted a quick opaque calendar that I could bring to the front when I needed it then dissappear when I am done. Having it hang out on my desktop all the time is very distracting. Customization options are kind of weird, cant minimize upper left corner without losing it. In preferences positioning it gives you sub squares you can move it to but then it doesnt fill those squares as depicted. Bottom line…as other reviewers have said it needs an ‘invisible mode’ where it goes away by a keyboard shortcut when it is not wanted.

Does a few things just right

Blotter is great to look at and does just what it says it does. Displays my calendar and to do on the desktop in an elegant and unobtrusive way. I have been using it for several months and am very pleased. Worth every penny.

Nearly Perfect

Great app that works exactly as advertised. There are definitely a few things that would be nice to have: an invisible mode and an option to show locations on 30-minute events. Blotters are designed to show a lot of information (but not an overwhelming amount) at a glance. Locations for 30-minute meetings would go a long way towards filling that job.

Resize Text Size

I think this is a great app. It actually helps my productivity in that I can see my task list and it keep me focused without interfering with other apps or my daily workflow. The only thing I would recommend is to have the ability to change the size of the fonts. The items in my calendare are very small and hard to read.

Useful App, but 10$ is a lot!

This app is great and very useful, But It’s not worth 10$!

Works great...but...

...can use a bit more customization. :)
